I love giving D&D gifts.

Finding that perfect meaningful present for someone special in my life gives me lots of joy. It gives me even more joy when I give the right gift.

But that can be tough.

You probably understand, especially if you’re looking for gift ideas for D&D players and Dungeon Masters. Maybe you know your loved one plays Dungeons and Dragons, but you don’t know anything about the game. Or maybe you’re a D&D player and you want great ideas for Dungeon Master gifts.

No matter what you know about the game, what your budget is, or what the D&D player in your life already has, you’ll find the right gift idea for them.

In-Game Items

Generally speaking, when many of us think of gifts to give people with a certain hobby, we go straight to the most obvious ones. When thinking of gift ideas for D&D players and Dungeon Master gifts, it’s easy to do the same thing. While you don’t need much to play Dungeons and Dragons, there are a few things you can gift D&D players that directly apply to the game and you’ll never go wrong.

Dice

You’ll never go wrong giving a D&D player or a Dungeon Master dice. There are dice of all types and price points you can buy as a D&D gift.

DnD Dice sells high-quality dice in different materials and styles. Dungeon Masters often enjoy having multiple sets of dice, too, to loan players.

Dice Bags

For players who have lots of dice already, a sturdy dice bag will help them carry them from session to session. For your cat-loving friends, make sure to get them a cat-themed dice bag!

DIY Dice

If your D&D player enjoys painting minis, solving puzzles, or generally enjoys DIYs, then give them some cool, customizable dice. Mythroll Armory sells both paintable sketch dice and a foldable d20 puzzle.

Dice Trays

Keep a player’s dice (and table!) safe with a dice tray. It’s a great D&D gift for players and Dungeon Masters because it’ll save game time when less dice roll off the table.

Dice Tower

This D&D gift will give players that perfect roll every time. Some towers even combine with dice trays as a great two-for-one gift.

Dice Jail

Sometimes a die rolls low too many times. In that case, it needs to go to dice jail. This will make a great gift for D&D players who have a lot of dice already.

Dice Popper

For a fun and unique way to roll dice, gift a D&D player a dice popper. Just press down on the dome and watch the dice roll! There’s also a little hatch to let the dice out one at a time.

Character Sheets

Sure, The Player’s Handbook comes with character sheets inside, but a unique, artistic character sheet will make such a great personalized gift for D&D players. Plus, as a digital download, it’s a great last-minute D&D gift, too!

“Healing Potions”

To give a little extra flavor to healing potions, give a D&D player a bottle of dice that acts as their healing potion. Or, try a set of dice shaped like healing potions, appropriate for each type of potion.

Initiative Trackers

Make it easy for your DM to keep track of the combat order with cool customizable initiative trackers that sit on their screen. If your DM doesn’t use a screen, a standing tracker works great, too.

Miniatures

Both D&D players and Dungeon Masters can never have enough miniatures of their characters. Create a custom one through Hero Forge, or have one commissioned by an artist on Etsy. Don’t forget the mounts, too!

Miniature Paint Sets

Some players enjoy painting their miniatures. The materials can be quite specific, so new paints or brushes would be a welcomed gift.

Dice Molds

For the crafty D&D players, a dice mold will give them the opportunity to make their own dice. Make sure to include a guide on how to make resin dice, too.

Maps

Once the miniatures are ready, they’ll need a battlefield to play on. Dungeon Masters especially will love a set of basic customizable maps or crafting equipment to make their own.

Deck of Many Things

This is another fun way a Dungeon Master can add flavor to their campaign. Did a player find a Deck of Many Things? Have them draw a card to find their fate.

While not everyone may agree on this, as a general rule of thumb, I would avoid getting any D&D-related books for a player unless they have specifically requested it. Why? Because odds are high that they already have it. That doesn’t mean you couldn’t gift a D&D player one of these fiction books they’re sure to love.

Out-of-Game Items

A few choice in-game items can make great gift ideas for D&D players and Dungeon Masters alike. There are countless out-of-game items, however, that make amazing gifts. Out-of-game items refer to gifts that have nothing to do with the actual game play of Dungeons and Dragons but can enhance it all the same.

Mugs

Everyone enjoys a beverage while playing D&D, which makes a mug a great D&D gift. We love these adorable D&D cat mugs. They come as t-shirts, too!

Coasters

Coasters pair well with mugs, and they make a great gift for whoever hosts your D&D games. Take it to the next level with some dice coasters that hold dice for you.

Clothing

Rock that Dungeons and Dragons love with some great D&D t-shirts and other apparel. Clothing always makes a great Dungeon Master gift.

Candles

Candles can create a good vibe for a game. Firelight Fables sells a wide variety of D&D scents for every setting like Rustic Tavern, Dark Forest, and Desert Bazaar. They even sell affordable tealight sample packs so you can try different candles first.

Cookie Cutters

D&D cookie cutters are a great way for D&D players to make their own snacks. Thematic cookie cutters will add to the “flavor” of Dungeons and Dragons.

Enamel Pins

Lots of artists make beautiful enamel pins these days that make great gifts for D&D players. They’re often shaped like dice or are made for specific character classes.

Tables

If you want to give a D&D player or a Dungeon Master a really great gift, give them a side table or a gaming table. Gaming tables make amazing D&D gifts and are sure to be greatly appreciated.

Shot Glasses

Any D&D player knows that only a few magical items can change a character’s modifier, and one of those magical items is alcohol. Get a D&D player these shot glasses to show just how much their modifier changed!

Funko Pop!

Your Dungeon Master will love one (or many) of the Dungeons and Dragons Funko Pop figurines available.

Crockpot

When playing D&D, no one wants to worry about what’s for dinner. A crockpot is a great way to have a hot, home-cooked meal without taking away from precious game time.

Journals

Some players like to keep their character sheet in a unique journal while they take notes of what’s going on in the campaign.

Stickers

Players can add stickers to their character journals, sheets, or even their laptop as they play.

Pens and pencils

D&D players can never have enough pens and pencils to track their character sheets. You can even get D&D-themed sets from Mint and Mustard.

Jewelry

So many amazing artists make great D&D jewelry. Buy something pre-made, or have something custom ordered.

Home decor

As another great gift for D&D hosts, home decor will make anyone’s home feel more like Faerun. Greet players to the game with a sign like this.

Ornaments

For a holiday twist on a Dungeons and Dragons gift, why not try an ornament? Nothing says “Merry Christmas” like a Beholder hanging from your tree!

Books

D&D players love to read. We kind of have to given how many rulebooks there are to play D&D! Try out some in-game or out-of-game books for your D&D player.

Gift Cards

If you don’t play Dungeons and Dragons yourself, then giving gift cards to a few choice sites would make safe yet thoughtful gift ideas for D&D players. While an Amazon gift card would cover all bases, there are some more personalized routes you can go.

Wyrmwood

They sell beautiful handmade dice trays, cases, tables, and more.

HeroForge

An amazing one-stop shop for miniatures.

DMs Guild

A great gift for Dungeon Masters, DMs Guild has all sorts of D&D modules and games published by independent game designers.

Gamers love to support their local game store, and they’ll love being able to do more with a gift card. A quick Google search of the D&D player’s area should help you find their closest store. Give them a call about gift card options. The store may also have D&D games or related classes (like painting miniatures) that your loved one can use their gift card toward.

Subscriptions

Like gift cards, subscriptions can make thoughtful yet unique gift ideas for D&D players and Dungeon Masters. Several sites have monthly or yearly subscriptions for D&D players.

D&D Beyond

A one-stop shop for character sheets, D&D Beyond helps players build characters, track their stats, and keep notes on the game.

Twitch

Many D&D players stream their games for the world to see. A Twitch subscription will allow players to watch their favorite D&D related show.

Roll20

Many players don’t meet in person. Instead, they play online to help with scheduling issues and meet new people. Roll20 makes online play easy.

Fantasy Grounds

Like Roll20, this is another online platform for playing tabletop games. If you’re not sure which site your D&D player would prefer, ask them some indirect questions about their game, like where they play now.

Audible or Kindle Unlimited

By and large, D&D players are also big readers. There are lots of books that D&D players enjoy reading to give them ideas for their campaigns and characters. A subscription to loads of books would make a great gift.

Subscription Boxes

For a bit of a surprise when it comes to D&D gifts, try a subscription box. Many boxes contain dice, mugs, shirts, candles, and other gifts.

Their Patreon

It might feel like you’re simply giving a D&D player or Dungeon Master cash by giving to their Patreon, but you’re really giving them so much more. Not only will they appreciate your support in their endeavor, your contribution will strengthen their credibility to other potential supporters.

Technically this is not a separate RPG but rather a ruleset to play any RPG you want, but it’s too good to resist adding. This ruleset is exactly what it sounds like. You can make characters for your cats based on their personality, have them make attacks, or they can even play as the lovable monsters they are.
