About
About Cats and Dice
I once told a friend of mine how I play board games with my parents every time they come to visit.
“That’s a great way to spend time with parents,” he commented, “especially since you don’t always know what to talk about.”
This reflects a feeling lots of family members and even friends can have with each other. Our interests are different, our lives are different, yet we want to connect with each other over a shared love of… something. Board games can and will bridge the gap.
How? Well, there’s truly a board game about almost anything for anyone who’s interested. Does your mom love cats? There are board games about that. Does your nephew love The Avengers? Play these board games. Board games can and will create fun conversations and memories about anything and everything.
Here at Cats and Dice, we’re all about helping you discover your next favorite board game to make memories. Board games these days aren’t limited to games with actual boards, either. They can simply contain cards, involve a bunch of pieces like meeples, or they might need nothing more than some dice and your imagination. If it’s a game that can take place at your table, we’re all about it. Modern board games are, in a word, excellent. We want to help you become all about it, too.
So, how do we do that? Through articles, videos, and other kinds of content to help you discover your new favorite game, learn how to play games, and find your new board gaming buddies. We gather this information through working at board game cafés, visiting conventions, and years of playing board games in our own homes.
The Creators of Cats and Dice
Kristen Seikaly, Founder and Content Creator
Like many modern board gamers, I’ve had a lifelong love of tabletop games. As a kid, I would play classic card games like Hearts, Euchre, and Cribbage, alongside some of the world’s most known board games. Then, in my twenties, I was lucky enough to discover the board game boom.
With two degrees in music, I transitioned over into writing and content creation with my first blog, Operaversity. Thanks to that initial endeavor, I started the blogs for the game-focused websites. Then, a fortuitous series of events happened within two months: I discovered board game cafés in Ireland, landed a position as a Gametender at Thirsty Dice in Philadelphia, and attended PAX Unplugged a month later. From there, I became a Dungeon Master, too. All of this led me to an obvious conclusion: my next blog needed to be about tabletop games. And two years later, here I am.
As a game writer, my work has been featured on the following sites:

Ollie and Puddy
What would Cats and Dice be without our cats? Meet Ollie and Puddy. Ollie, our forever kitten, doesn’t sit still for very long. But when he does, he’s definitely lounging by the board game collection. Meanwhile, Puddy, rescued from the cold Michigan winters, has an excellent constitution modifier but doesn’t need it much when batting at strings and dice.
